Are electronic signatures legally valid?
Yes. Electronic signatures are legally binding under the federal ESIGN Act (2000) and the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA) adopted by 47 states. inTrial's eSign includes consent capture, audit trails, and tamper-evident certificates that satisfy legal requirements for enforceability.
What devices can clients use to sign?
Clients can sign from any device with a web browser — iPhone, Android, iPad, laptop, or desktop. No app download or account creation is required. They receive a link via email or text, open it, review the document, draw their signature, and submit.
Can I customize my document templates?
Yes. Upload any PDF as a template base, then use the drag-and-drop editor to place signature, initial, date, and text fields. Assign fields to specific signers for multi-party documents. Templates are saved and reusable — build once, send to every new client.
How often are signing reminders sent?
By default, inTrial sends a reminder 24 hours after the initial send, then every 3 days until the document is signed or expires. You can customize reminder frequency and add a personal message. Reminders go out via email and optionally via SMS.
Where are signed documents stored?
Signed documents are automatically filed to the case drive in the appropriate folder. The original document, all signatures, and the audit certificate are bundled together as a single PDF. Documents are encrypted at rest and retained according to your firm's retention policy.
