File Storage & File Sharing

Secure cloud drive with one-click external sharing.

Every PI case generates hundreds of files — medical records, police reports, demand letters, photos, insurance correspondence. Most firms scatter these across shared drives, email attachments, and desktop folders. inTrial gives every case its own organized cloud drive with built-in secure sharing, so your entire team (and outside parties) can access the right files without the chaos.

Included in your subscription. Standalone tools charge $15-30/user/month for cloud storage + $20-40/user/month for secure sharing.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a file size or storage limit?
There is no per-case storage limit. Individual files can be up to 500 MB each, which covers virtually all legal documents including large medical imaging files. Enterprise plans offer even higher per-file limits for firms that regularly handle very large multimedia evidence files.
How does external sharing work?
Select any file or folder, click Share, and enter the recipient's email. They receive a secure link that requires email verification before access is granted. You control whether they can view only or download, and set an expiration date (default 30 days). Every access event is logged so you know exactly who viewed or downloaded the file and when.
Can we migrate files from our existing cloud storage?
Yes. Our migration team helps import files from Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, or any other cloud storage provider. We also import from existing case management systems. Files are organized into the appropriate case drives during migration, preserving your folder structure where possible.
How is data encrypted?
All files are encrypted with AES-256 encryption both at rest and in transit (TLS 1.3). Access is controlled through role-based permissions, and all file operations are logged in an immutable audit trail. Our infrastructure is SOC 2 Type II compliant.
Does the case drive integrate with other inTrial features?
Absolutely. Documents generated by the Document Generator are automatically saved to the case drive. Incoming faxes via eFax are AI-sorted into the correct case and folder. Files can be attached to team chat messages, linked in case notes, and shared directly from the drive via secure links or fax. The case drive is the central hub for all case documents.
